During the SportKompas Training in Ghent the partners learned all about SportKompas I DO, I LIKE & I AM and how to use the platform. They performed the physical tests and also acted as test leaders. The perfect preparation to get to work and test 20 children in their own environment. In this blog you can read about how the various partners handled their SportKompas pilot tests. Spoiler alert, they did great!

How was SportKompas presented?

SportKompas was presented in all countries as a way to let children discover the sports that will suit them best, depending on their physical capabilities and more importantly: depending on their likes and dislikes of certain movements and environmental aspects in sports.

Some of the partners organized the I DO tests during the physical education lessons at school. The I LIKE and I AM questionnaires were filled out in class or were emailed to the parents to be completed at home. Others hosted it as a fun sports afternoon where all 3 modules were completed.

Where did it all take place and with whom?

SportKompas all over the world, that’s how we like it. Here is a short overview of the successful test-taking:

• UISP, Bologna in Italy —> 23 children
• KAMK, Kajaani in Finland —> 18 children
• Verde Klaster, Łódź in Poland —> 22 children
• HAN, Arnhem in The Netherlands —> 25 children
• Sportcamp, Loutraki in Greece —> scheduled in June

All testing sessions took place in the local sports hall or the school sports hall. All children who took the tests were connected to a certain school. So each partner made a commitment to a school from the neighborhood that was interested in the project. All test leaders have a background in sports: they are physical education teachers, physiotherapists, trainers/coaches, students in a sports education etc.

Next up

One of the next items on the partner's agenda for the SPEX project: organizing a SportKompas test session for 200 children. This will take place from the end of 2023 until May 2024. With SportaMundi we will assist all partners by visiting them during these large testing days.
